Cultural changes keep happening daily in tiniest fashion that it is almost invisible. Just imagine if your or my granddad was transported to today’s workplace – they will most probably not able to adjust to our new way of doing things, new values, new infrastructure, new work aesthetics etc. And similarly if we are put back in time we will be like a fish out of water!

Nobody can stop these changes and as they say resistance is futile:-). So that leads me to the questions you have posed:

Should Designers create game like environments in enterprise applications? Will it dilute the “seriousness” of the work environment?
No, IMHO it will not. Rather if we do not start doing it (probably not in a scale of a full game environment – though I wish!) we will be left behind. All the more reason to keep a pulse on the current scenario and seeing if we can get away by taking it a step further and mess with the benchmark!

Will fun increase the acceptance quotient of serious applications?
A resounding YES! Though (at the moment) we should not mess with it much, a simple humor (Aw snap something went wrong :-( ) will be appreciated even in a serious application.rajeevhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10721088648063391069noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14268312.post-377983351131783312012-01-05T01:08:19.101-05:002012-01-05T01:08:19.101-05:00Hi Masood,

More focus on creating "Natural User Interface" that make use of human senses is necessary and I don't see a long wait for it :)

Regards,
PadmaPadmahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12230975531709048337noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14268312.post-1752130146463698932012-01-04T13:47:25.843-05:002012-01-04T13:47:25.843-05:00Very interesting article. Sensor games too are getting noticed which has now a craze in market and is getting attracted.

But this is strictly only restricted to the gaming industry and not completed affected the web.

Infact I am facing challenges to provide same experience the user would get on a laptop to a hand held device.

Long story short, still time has to come for hand held to concur web.Pavan Kumar Vankamamidihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10339164744920296546noreply@blogger.com
